About Yasthimadhu Tablet

Liquorice (Glycyrrhiza glabra), a perennial blooming plant native to central and southwest Asia as well as the Mediterranean region, is the subject of the Yashtimadhu Tablet. It is extensively farmed for its four-foot-deep, delicious taproot. Yasthimadhu is also known as “sweet root” because of its sweet flavor. In Sanskrit it is called yashtimadhu – ‘yashti’ meaning ‘stem, stalk; and madhu, meaning ‘sweet’. In Hindi liquorice is known as ‘mulethi’. The perennial root is rounded, long and straight, hard, and fibrous. It is grayish outside and yellowish within. The cortex contains its most attractive qualities.
